Does display link support laptop specific docking stations?

I.e HP 840 G3 laptop with a laptop specific docking station such as HP UltraSlim Docking Station 2013 UK.

I have tried it and it did work on a laptop but i am a bit sceptile to believe it did work sicne its not a usb docking station.

Any thoughts on this?

Nope, this is a proprietary dock from HP.
