1.2.65 uninstallation, reboot, 1.3.52 installation - does not help. None of listed issues are resolved.

Default Same Issue

I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 with Gnome 3.20.4. X crashes every time the display link device is plugged in. I have tested this on 3 different display link devices. Same result for them all. This was working in 6.04. Does display link intend to support Ubuntu version other than LTS?

I bought this device specifically because the manufacturer claims it supports Ubuntu. All I have now is an over complicated USB hub and unusable monitors.

Any answer from DisplayLink? Do you see enough information in logs that I attached to first post?

Hi,

Sadly, since we've raised the X crash upstream there was no activity:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98745

Please help by adding your comment to the bug.

Thanks,
Michal

Sure, commented.

What about item 3 from first post? It's X Server issue or driver side issue?
I could test items 1&2 with newer Xorg, but seems like latest DisplayLink driver require workarounds to get this combination working. Is there ETA for newer version that will work without xorg.conf with workaround options?

Hello!
After upgrade to Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 I can't get screen attached to dock working at all. I upgraded to Ubuntu Gnome 17.04, uninstalled DisplayLink 1.3.52 driver, reboot, installed DisplayLink 1.3.54 driver, reboot. After that I tried both xorg.conf from FAQ (Intel one and modesetting with disabled page flip) I also tried workaround xorg.conf from this thread - display attached to dock is either always stay black or render only cursor like here.

Please help get DisplayLink driver working!

All issues mentioned above was resolved with DisplayLink Driver 4.1 update.

Only remaining issue right now is tearing on both screens (laptop's screen and external screen).
