Is there really not any solution to this? Any other usb drivers, anniversary update rollback or anything? There must be something what to do about it. I just spend whole two days debugging why iam not getting any monitors visible and its because Microsoft blocks it... What about that maybe hundreds of people who cannot use displaylink anymore (not anyone apparently) on W10?

I have InFocus in1102.

When iam reading that Microsoft banned switching mass storage and video, is it possible to desolder flash/storage chip so its only main chip recognized? Or there's somewhere code that will just act like it nothing happend?

Thank you, sorry if i there's any misspelling.

I had the same thought. Couldn't there be a firmware update that forces the device into video-device mode from the start? At least on the HP HSTNN-S01X devices, I have absolutely no use for mass storage mode.

I did try installing older DisplayLink drivers using compatibility mode, but it failed to install.

Hello,

Unlike more recent generations, these products aren't firmware updated in the field.
Removing chips from the PCB won't change how the product was programmed to start. It would need to go to the manufacturing location of whoever made the product, then new firmware configuration programmed with specialist software, after its been designed all that for a product designed ~10 years ago so probably not being manufactured anymore.

The HP HSTNN-S01X is more than 10 years old. It's difficult to blame someone for not having predicted what Windows would become 10 years later. Windows 10, its strategy and features wasn't know at the time when Windows XP was king.

Kind regards,
Alban
