Hello Peter,
Clone mode must use a resolution supported by both displays. Windows doesn't allow scaling to match keeping the aspect ratio. The system will default to the highest resolution supported by both, comparing the supported mode list. From your description I am unable to understand what resolution you want on both. If you tell me which one it is, and you have the .edid file saved in the DisplayLink folder (C:\ProgramData\DisplayLink\Debug), I can see if the external display advertises supporting it. Kind regards, Alban

Thanks. I didn't realise that Windows needed matched resolutions for clone/duplicate/mirror to work. Of course that is quite understandable. I wanted to know how this worked, as I may need to plug my high resolution laptop into lower resolution projectors when in meetings (which is why I was experimenting with my TV). Query resolved, thank you.

You're welcome Peter,
For presentation, extended desktop might be preferable. For instance, PowerPoint will show you your current slides with speaker notes and an overview of the following slide on your local display with a timer whilst only showing the current slide full screen on the second display. It reminds you of what is coming next. Kind regards, Alban
