According to the specifications I found online (https://us.aoc.com/en/products/i1601fwux/specs) that display requires a host system with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate mode video output in order to work. Since your MacBook does not have USB-C port, it is not compatible. Further to this, the display does not use DisplayLink technology.
