The HDMI is plugged into the Dell 3100 and the Display Port into the Monitor. So, you're saying if I get one of those USB to DP adapters and plug it into the dock, it will work?

Ok, the cable works the other way, not this one.
You can indeed get a USB-DP adapter and plug the USB in the dock. DisplayLink technology can go through USB hubs, it supports daisy-chaining products. Here is a list of adapters we have tested and certified: https://www.displaylink.com/products/usb-adapters Kind regards, Alban
