I am an idiot.
I finally realized what my issue is. I don't need the Displaylink graphics and core software. I am not using multiple monitors. I am running Windows 8 Pro on a nice desktop with a Dell S2340T touch monitor. The touch functionality works without the Displaylink software. That is what I didn't know until now. The Displaylink auto installs when you attach the monitor. The past two months I've been dealing with driver updates from Displaylink and Intel when all I had to uninstall the Displaylink software. Once I did that, then disabled all Displaylink services and processes, my Win 8 machine is running great. Netflix, Hulu Plus, NBC News app, Metro Video and Music app, Camera and Maps app...all running great. No flashing screens, no blue screen... Wow. And I was about to buy a new XPS 8500 to try and resolve this. |
