Hello,
I am using Windows 8.1 on a Dell XPS 18 pc. I bought an HIS Multi-View USB Portable Docking Station, and all functions well except for this issue. When I plug an HDMI display into the unit, it is detected as a VGA display. If I hook the same display up via the VGA connection, it displays as it should. However, every time I use HDMI, the display is detected as VGA. I am using the latest version of the DisplayLink software. How do I fix this? |

Where is it showing as a VGA monitor? Can you provide a screenshot?

When the HDMI display plugs in, and I right click the DisplayLink icon in the taskbar then select Video Settings, a screen pops up with a drop down bar. If you click the drop down, display number 1 is the integrated display, display number 2 is detected as (vga), not hdmi.
I should also say that the adapter tries to send a signal to the HDMI monitor, but obviously it does not display because it is sending the wrong signal. When this same HDMI monitor is unplugged and replugged in via a VGA cable, it displays correctly. Last edited by xps18; 02-26-2015 at 10:43 PM. |
