Default Is it possible to change the MAC address of the ethernet card on Macos?

Hello,

I've been trying today to change the MAC address on MacOS 10.10.3, however it doesn't seem to work:

consta-mba:~ root# ifconfig en5 lladdr 9c:eb:e8:1c:32:03
consta-mba:~ root# ifconfig en5
en5: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULT ICAST> mtu 1500
ether 9c:eb:e8:1c:32:04
inet6 fe80::9eeb:e8ff:fe1c:3204%en5 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6
inet 192.168.3.140 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.3.255
nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD>
media: autoselect (1000baseT <full-duplex>)
status: active
consta-mba:~ root#

The above is just a silly example (changing the last byte from 04 to 03 which didn't work.

Can someone please tell me if this is possible?

Thank you!
