can't get past 1680x1050 on dl-165 product
Hi,
I just purchased an encore ENMUV-2 usb-dvi adapter (http://www.encore-usa.com/bd/product/ENMUV-2) and I'm using it connect a Apple Cinema Display 23" (although I'm on a PC, not a mac) The monitor will go to 1920 x 1080 but the displaylink adapter properties won't let me go that high. I ran the displaylink debug tool and the link below will download the zip file (I was unable to upload the zip through the forum) http://share1t.com/3hmtcj Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

The EDID file reports 1920x1200 as the only resolution supported by your monitor while according to the logs, resolutions supported by the adapter are:
1280x800x16@59.8103, 1280x800x24@59.8103, 1440x900x16@59.8874, 1440x900x24@59.8874, 1680x1050x16@59.9543, 1680x1050x24@59.9543 Because the adapter doesn't support 1920x1200, the software sets the monitor at a highest possible resolution (1680x1050). Regards |

Thanks for the info, however a dl-165 adapter should support 1920x1080 correct? Why isn't that resolution reported in the logs? Thanks

It is because your monitor and adapter support different screen resolutions with different aspect ratios. The reason why 1920x1080 is not reported in the logs is that resolutions supported by the monitor and adapter must share the same aspect ratios and this particular resolution's ratio is different on the monitor and on the adapter.
