Dell D3000 USB device is not recognized
similar/same issue with my D3000 dock.
I have a dell xps (one of those hybrid touch laptops that has hardly any usb ports, hence the need for the D3000 dock). anyway, i get in in the mornings, plug the D3000 to my laptop and immediately have to start the dance of unplugging the D3000 power cable, unplug its USB "UP" port, and then do this in different order a few times and then finally all 3 of my monitors show up (yes I use 3, 1 DVI, 1 DVI to HDMI, both connected to the D3000 dock, and then one to the laptop through DisplayPort) I use the dock for wired Ethernet too, which also does not work until the dance is finished. At one point my Windows 8.1 eventually says that the USB device is not recognized, but as I continue to unplug/plug the two cables it eventually works... may be a temperature thing like @ronmag surmises. definitely a big hassle each day. |

Hello,
New problem in a new thread as it subject line and symptoms are different. Would you please be able to provide the logs as described in my signature for investigation. I believe you have a hardware issue with the dock. If the device is not recognised properly under Windows, then there's no driver attached to it yet at that stage. The logs will tell me more. Kind regards, Alban
