Builtin display stays blank after unplugging external displays?
[2018 MBP 15, 10.14.2, DL 5.0.1, 2 x Dell 2417 via USB- C]
Since upgrading to 10.14.2 and DL 5.0.1 I have been experiencing a strange intermittent problem. I normally run with the MBP lid closed and 2 external displays. Sometimes when I open the lid, the builtin display stays blank. Display Settings shows 2 displays only (the external ones), it does not show the builtin display at all. Disconnecting the external displays now leaves me with a running MBP, but no display. So the only choice is a hard shutdown, which I never like doing. If I don't hard-reboot, reconnecting the external monitors usually works, in that the external monitors work again, but the internal display still remains blank. This occurs *nearly* every time I disconnect the external monitors, regardless of whether I open the lid first or not. Has anyone else seen anything like this behaviour? Thanks! |

I have exactly the same issue
I am running a MBP2017 with a Dell D6000 USB-C dock, my two external displays work in clamshell mode, but when i pull the cable out, the internal display remains black and I need to force a reset. Very annoying, is there a workaround?

Hello,
Could you please capture the logs after hard reset and upload to this thread? This article describes how to gather the data: https://support.displaylink.com/know...to-displaylink Thank you, Szymon |

I am also having the same issue. I am on 10.14.3 and I have the latest DisplayLink driver. Logs from the DisplayLink Information app have been sent.

Same issue - workaround
I have a user experiencing the same issue. The workaround I found was that first I have him put the system to sleep (AppleLogo-->Sleep) then remove the MacBook Pro from the dock. The internal screen will then work when the computer is woken up.
However this is not a replacement for a proper fix. Can anyone at DisplayLink provide an update on this? Thanks. |

Same issue. I have to restart my MacBook Pro (2018) EVERY time I unplug from my DisplayLink dock. Very annoying for productivity or going to meetings.
When the dock is unplugged, the MacBook still thinks the external monitor is connected. I have tried using the Command + Brightness Down reset trick, but it does not help. How do I tell my mac to reset my display back to JUST the Retina Display? |
