@slcu8,
Can you post your logs as well? I'd expect the 2.5k resolution not available on 4k monitor not to be reproducible anymore with 5.1 release. Thanks Michal |

same problem
Hey guys,
same problem here. I'm using a 15" MBP 2018 with a Targus DOCK180EUZ and a Dell 2715Q and sometimes a Dell U2718Q. I'm on macOS Mojave 10.14.4 (beta) and have installed DisplayLink Driver 5.1. 4K seems to work fine, but the fonts are too small to work with. My preferred resolution (2560 x 1440 HiRes) is not offered in system preferences when connected thru the Targus Dock. When I connect the monitor directly I can choose this solution (and many more). Please fix this! @mlukaszek: I sent you a pm with the logs from support tool. |

Hi @Snow2,
I got rid of my Dell USB-C Dock and bought an Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Dock. Now I have all my resolutions back, without needing DisplayLink. And the greatest thing: The random disconnects of WIFI & Bluetooth are gone! With the Dell D-6000 and other USB-C Docks/Dongles there seem to be some general problems: https://www.bluetoothandusb3.com/the-explanation And switching to a Thunderbolt 3 Dock solved all of them! Cheers, Kolt |

Hi Kolt, thanks for your suggestion. Maybe I will try the elgato dock, but I think the targus display link dock was too expensive for not working properly... @ mrbickxo: I don't know what exactly you mean... |

@Snow2.
I feel your pain. I also have to sell my Dell dock on ebay. But I will never ever connect any USB 3 dock to my Mac again. No more crashes and no more lags since I switched to Thunderbolt 3! |

Same here: EIZO CG-248-4K works in native resolution 3840x2160 and a couple of (non-sense) lower ones, but something usable (preferably 2560 x 1440 HiDPI) desperately missing.

I have a 4K monitor and also had the issue that 2560x1440 (or in my case since I'm using portrait mode, 1440x2560) was not available up to the 5.2 of the DisplayLink driver. The highest option was 1080x2048 with that version.
However, the 5.2.1 Beta 3 driver available for download now makes 1440x2560 available for me, so I'm a (mostly) happy camper. (Mostly because CPU performance has taken a noticeable hit running the higher resolution - but knowing how DisplayLink works, I'd expect as much). The bad news: the beta version dropped support for 1080x2048 and 1080x1920 (only "1080x1920 (interlaced)" remains). After a few days of having the super slow 1440x2560, I decided to go back to 1080x2048, but found that I needed to revert back to the 5.2 driver in order to do so. The 5.2.1 Beta 3 still supports Mojave according to the release notes, so anyone on Mojave or later should try it out and see if they have similar success. I have the same problem. When I connect the display directly I can use 2560x1440 HiDPI just fine. But as soon as I connect it via the dock, I can only use 2560x1440 lowres or 1080p with huge UI.
And I have the newest Beta 3 installed. Last edited by pandronu; 11-18-2019 at 06:39 PM. |

Problem still there after 1.5 years
Hi,
I am the OP of this thread. Just to give an update, in short the problem has never been fixed for me. 1.5 years after I am still having the issue with my 4K monitor (B286HK) not having 2560x1440 HiDPI mode with Displaylink. I have since updated to Mojave 10.14.5 and Displaylink driver 5.2.1 but the problem is still there. I have been connecting my 4K monitor using direct thunderbolt cable as a workaround (only using my Dell D6000 for the other 1080p monitor I have and the USB keyboard/mouse). Haven't been following the thread since a year or so ago, but I was curious if this has been fixed but unfortunately no Don't get me wrong, I think Displaylink is a useful feature. but I really cannot recommend it for 4K monitors on MacOS given the current lack of support for scaling 4K->1440p.
