DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu 1.3.54 won't install - permission denied

The install fails at the point it tries to run ./displaylink-installer.sh install in the directory /tmp/selfgz4895

Following is the output from the script

I checked the permissions of /tmp and found they are drwxrwxrwt so that shouldn't be the issue. I suspect that perhaps the script has not set execute permission on /tmp/selfgz4895./displaylink-installer.sh

The installer script is a bash script and its shebang is #!/bin/bash.
Is it possible you either don't have bash installed or don't have privileges to use it?

You can extract the .run file with

--keep --noexec

options.
Then, you can modify the installer script as you like.
