My impression based on your description is that you are using an 'HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock' --> https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp...essential-dock

Presuming for the moment that my impression is indeed correct, according the support information provided by HP here --> https://support.hp.com/us-en/product...ls?sku=72C71AA the dock you are using does NOT have DisplayLink technology inside of it.

As a result, DisplayLink will not be able to assist you.

Based on your description of the behavior, the HP dock you are using has a DisplayPort MST hub inside of it in order to drive the displays. Mac's do not support DisplayPort MST, which is why your Mac only 'sees' one display and both are showing the same content.
