Issues on MacBook Pro

As indicated in other message threads, there seems to be a real issue between the 1.8 driver and Mountain Lion. Just experimented and, like others, I can only use auto login with the Displaylink driver installed. Uninstall and the problem goes away.
Can't have a screensaver option set as System Preferences crashes with the Displaylink driver installed. The Quartz Explorer default screensaver gets stored for use on both my MacBook Pro display and the external USB connected screen. Tried with a Samsung Syncmaster and Toshiba Mobile LCD monitor.
Don't really like auto login set on all the time but need to use my second monitor most of the time. Any ETA on a fix?
