Default MacBook Pro 2017 Ventura 13.4/13.3 Vendor ID problem

Hi Team,

I hope you are well.

I saw a lot of similar threads posted recently regarding DisplayLink dock problems with MacOS Ventura 13.4. I reverted back to 13.3 but the issue seems to occur still.

Context: I bought the Dell D6000 dock December last year (2022) and it was working fine since connecting. Then around 2-4 weeks ago it stopped working after I restarted my laptop. I had some on and off luck with reinstalling DisplayLink Manager on and off, but the problem came down to one thing - it was not detecting the Dock as a DisplayLink Vendor but as a BizLink vendor instead.

I've posted the initial problem on the Dell Forum as well in case there is any resolutions from their side. What might be a shout as well is if I try to install the driver on windows potentially?

(Now realising that it's still not working on Ventura.13.3 - USB working but displays and ethernet not detected)

Let me know if there are any solutions that you may know of

Hello,

This sounds like a potential hardware fault. The USB ports don't seem to be working either, as you can't see any USB3 hub in the tree. The DisplayLink chip, like the free USB3 ports, are connected to the hub internally. Chip needs to talk for a driver to work.

If I had that dock out of warranty, I would try to use the Dell Flashing Utility from Dell website from a Windows machine in USB-A mode without anything connected downstream to the dock, and force an update. But if it's under warranty, I would ask the manufacturer.

To sum up, I recommend you contact the manufacturer tech support (Dell) via a ticket to discuss a replacement, if you can.

Regards,
Alban
