never ending problems with D3100
hi everyone.
I had a lot of trouble getting my 27 inch dell monitor work as second monitor on my dell inspiron 13, via the D3100 - on ubuntu 16.04 but it was working fine. now that I upgraded to ubuntu 17.04, my external monitior is messed up again, not responding. Then I installed displaylink 1.3.52, and the second monitor responded, however, it just displays a screenshot of the desktop, and freezes in that condition. mouse and keyboard is not functional on it. In the meantime the built in laptop display is functioning normally. anybody knows the possible remedy to that ? |

Hi, I'm having a Dell XPS 15 (2016) and a D3100 docking station with almost the same issues. After upgrading DisplayLink drivers to 1.3.52 and Xserver, graphics drivers (Intel/NVIDIA) and bumblebee also to the latest versions on Arch Linux, my displays are not correctly controlled anymore too. If I activate them and they overlap with the main screen, I'll get a frozen mirror image. If I extend the display, then it's just black. My mouse is still working on all displays though. There was a guess about some software not being able to handle the new display names (DVI-I-1-1, additional "-1"). Unfortunately there is no solution yet, as far as I know.

same here....
also having the Dell D3100 docking station. When connected through HDMI and/or VGA it reacts very very slowly (very laggy). If I use a different HDMI adapter everything works smoothly.... at the moment I connect my laptop through a standard HDMI adapter to my external monitor. *very* frustrating. Displaylink please fix this! |
