Default Windows 10 HP Envy Black Screen only

After the installation of the DisplayLink software on my HP Envy (Windows 10) everything was fine before I connected the Targus acp71eu docking station for the first time.

After the first time I connected I had a black screen only, both on the notebook and the external monitor. There where no possibilites to change anything.

When I disconnect the docking station I have the same, only black screen and the cursor symbol. The notebooks seem to run in the background, but there is no way no get something on the display.

I only can start the notebook in protected mode, but there I cannot change or install drivers.

Anybody out there with a solution or a hint? Thanks.

Hello,
Thank you for the details, I would need a bit more to understand.

What is starting in "protected" mode?
Could you please execute our Customer Support Tool in that mode (see the last link of my forum signature) and post the ZIP file the tools create?

Kind regards,
Alban

Hello Alban

Protected Mode means that I start the notebook out of the recovery menu, without most of the drivers, just with a basic VGA style grafic mode. E.g. I can not install / uninstall any software there

I will try to run the tool you mentioned tonight and will let you know.

Regards, Thomas

Hello,

You are installing 7.9 which you shouldn't do on Windows 10 Anniversary Update, hence the warning at installation.

Please install 8.0 M3, or simply plug in the dock and let Windows Update do the magic for you.

Kind regards,
Alban

Thumbs up Notebook works again

Hello Alban

Thanks for your response and sorry for my late answer, was too busy.

Success I was able to get my display back and now I can work with my laptop again. I found a way to install driver / software in the Windows Safe Mode. Details here:

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/make-w...k-in-safe-mode

I did not Install Display yet but I'm back in business Thanks for your support.

I followed the tutorial element and after troubleshooting and restarting my computer I'm back into safe mode.

Hi nathandee,

Are you having exactly the same issue?

Please could you also post the logs from your machine so that we can see more details?

Kind regards,
Andrew
