Default Multi monitor setup for Financial Markets

Hello guys. I'm trader on financial Markets and for 5 years use DisplayLink solution via USB 2.0. Currently operate 6 FullHD 1920x1080 monitors via https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Grap.../dp/B004AIJE9G

Hard to believe but I need to add next monitors into my Notebook )
Do you think, is it possible to use e.g. Dell solution? This docking station (link below) allows to connect 2 piece of 1920x1080 plus one UHD 4K http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/acces...=19&l=en&s=dhs

I operate Notebook Dell L702x (XPS17). This one is not mentioned between supported for docking station.
Any idea how to increase number of connected Monitors? It's only about display static chart of financial instrument, no CAD task or Video gaming.
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hello,

I got your PM for moderation, thank you.
You can mix and match, yes. The same driver will be used.

The Dell D3100 will offer you dual HD on 2xHDMI and 4Kp30 on DisplayPort.
Please note you CANNOT use a passive DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (called DisplayPort++ standard) to get 4Kp30, you need to use real DisplayPort or an active DP->HDMI converter on this product to get 4Kp30.
The DisplayLink chips in the Dell D3100 will also do audio and Ethernet. Therefore, if you have a monitor with audio, or wish to plug speakers/headphones, you can.

We do not regularly test more than 6 external displays as the test matrix is unmanageable (platforms, adapter, docks, monitors, input type and resolutions make quite a few variables).
Even if all technically will work over a single USB 2.0 connection, I would strongly recommend you connect the Dell D3100 to a USB 3.0 port on the machine. You may attach the Plugable adapters to the Dell D3100.
The Dell D3100 was issued long after that platform, that's why it is not listed as supported, even if it is compatible.

If you are using Windows 7 and you get our driver installer moaning about the USB 3.0 Host Controller (HC) driver being outdated, I would strongly recommend you get the update as it will greatly improve your experience as early USB 3.0 HC drivers had quite a few bugs...

Kind regards,
Alban

Default thx

Hello Alban,

thanks a lot for your quick reply! It's great news for me
I use Windows 8.1 PRO on my Dell L702x (16GB of RAM) and USB 3.0 is available.
Have a great day.
