Default igfxext error

Hi,

I have a Vaio Fit (non-touch) laptop that is a few months old, running Windows 8.1. I've run "Vaio update" and "Windows update". So I think everything is up-to-date. I am using a Plugable UD-3000 docking station.

Every time I reboot the laptop, I get a "igfxext stopped working" error; the dialog is presented by Windows. Everything seems to otherwise work OK.

I am running a VGA monitor through the UD-3000 in mirror mode.

Thoughts?

You could try updating the integrated video drivers to the latest ones directly from Intel... I believe these would be what you want (assuming 64-bit Windows):

Usually laptop/desktop manufactures don't tend to post the latest drivers via their websites.

Thanks for that suggestion. I tried that earlier and downloaded the 162MB (!) driver package straight from Intel. When I tried to run it, the installer wouldn't continue; "Your drivers are supplied by your laptop manufacturer, and you will need to get any updates from them".

There was no option to "proceed anyways".

Hi,

This method will install the latest Intel graphics drivers on your system.

Thanks,
