Default No iGPU (but dGPU) & main monitor?

I'm contemplating a build, actually already have some parts.

I want a small CAD desktop workstation. I mainly work between two client sites where I'll have monitor setups at each. However, on the odd occasion, I want to venture further afield and I'll need 2x portable monitors. I was thinking of something in the Asus range.

I want to confirm system requirements.

I'll have a Win10 Ryzen 2 X570 system (no iGPU) with a workstation dGPU.
If I want to run two Asus ASUS MB169B+ or two ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC, please confirm that all I need are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports or better?

Thanks.

In addition, what are the implications of having all monitors through USB 3.x Type A - no 'main' monitor connected via a regular video port?

Thanks.

Hello,

These monitors would indeed be suitable for what you wish to achieve.
Having a dGPU and no iGPU doesn't make a difference, except decreasing complexity.

DisplayLink solution is not an external GPU so Windows 10 will send the CAD software computing tasks to your dGPU like it would with a directly connected display.
The benefit of a software encode is that, like you state, only 2 USB 3.0 ports are necessary. We starting doing 1080p over USB 2.0, so USB 3.0 bandwidth is more than comfortable.

If your workstation is a laptop, you have to keep in mind you will be powering 3 display backlights from one battery. That, and a computing intensive CAD application, are bound to reduce your autonomy.

Kind regards,
Alban
