Default when I reboot, windows thinks I have a 2nd monitor

This started when I got an HP Notebook stand/media port replicator for my HP Pavilion DV7t. After I installed the Displaylink software, whenever I reboot, the Control Panel/Display/Screen Resolution thinks I have a second monitor, when I don't. this screws up my desktop - cursor gets lost, icons get rearranged.

I tell it to "Show desktop only on 1", but when I reboot, it reverts to believing there's a second monitor.

Any ideas?

Default I have the same problem

I didn't start having this problem until I updated to the latest driver for windows.
I have only one monitor, my laptop screen, but after I reboot the settings change to 2 monitors and automatically change to "extend these displays". Also, my resolution changes from 1366x768 to 1024x768 upon rebooting windows.
