Frozen displays on Dell D3100
Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 15 that has been working with the D3100 and 2 external screens for ~6 months now with no issues. Last week both the external screens appeared to go blank, on investigation the issue appears to be that they are frozen as a CTRL-ALT-DEL will bring the primary monitor back to life until that screen is dismissed. Further investigation revealed that dropping the colours down to 16 bit allow both monitors to be functional however I do not understand why they used to work at 32 bit colour and now don't. The trigger for this issue appears to have been either then laptop monitor also being used as a 3rd display (up to that point the laptop lid was closed while connected) or an update to the NVidia driver (the laptop has both NVidia and Intel chipsets). I have removed the DisplayLink, NVidia and Intel drivers and installed the latest versions but the issue persists. I have attached the output of the support tool. Hopefully someone can offer some suggestions Thanks |

Hello,
In their driver for Windows 7, the nVidia driver post v362 is blocking our DLL from loading, hence the black screens. We have solved this in our next driver version 8.0, which would be available in about a month. They can't block us in the basic mode, that's why they come to life there. In the meantime, please go to nVidia website and install driver version 362 dated 1st of March 2016, I believe. Kind regards, Alban
