Default 1.4 not working with RedShift for nightmode on secondary monitor

Sorry, I am reporting from Windows but the issue happened on my Ubuntu 16.04.3. The night mode gamma doesn't apply to the external monitor connected with the DisplayLink USB 3.0 dock.

I tried

$xgamma -gamma 0.5
-> Red 1.000, Green 1.000, Blue 1.000
<- Red 0.500, Green 0.500, Blue 0.500

It seems it's a driver problem. Applying "xrandr --output DP-3 --gamma 0.5:0.5:0.5" doesn't change anything for the external monitor. I don't have the log file at hand, but if anyone else encountered this issue, please provide a log file. Thanks!

Gamma correction is currently not supported by our Linux drivers. Also note that DP-0 can't be a DisplayLink output, as it normally always shows up as DVI, regardless of the actual connector used on the docking station.

Cheers,
Michal

Any word on supporting the gamma setting for external display? I wish this feature can be implemented in the next release

They don't care. The vast majority of proprietary applications like this one were created with bits of Free code, but there is no return when it comes to support on GNU/Linux. They are just there to plunder and create closed standards.
Come on DisplayLink, a little effort to avoid inequality.
@mlukaszek, what about the progress on the Linux driver?
