Default Problems with Windows7/DL5.2RC & portrait mode

Hi,

My end target:
- 3 1280x1024 portrait mode displays (2 off a dual headed graphics card, 1 using a Sunweit DL-160 based DisplayLink device).

My problem:
- I can't get the DisplayLink device to run correctly in portrait mode.
- I also can't get it to run anything better than 8-bit color, even though the Windows 7 ScreenResolution/AdvancedSettings/Monitor dialog shows it in 16 or 32 bit color mode.

My system:
- Dell Optiplex 960.
- 32-bit Windows 7, build 7100.
- 3 Dell 17" 1280x1024 monitors, oriented vertically (Portrait rotation).
- Intel Q45 integrated graphics, or PCIex16 NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS.

1st scenario:
- using the Dell's Q45 integrated graphics, with both in portrait:
- rotated or not, the DisplayLink output is always 'compressed' to roughly two-thirds of the screen size. It's only compressed in the vertical direction though.
NOTE: The only way I could get the DisplayLink output to work correctly was to have ALL displays in normal landscape mode. Even then, the DisplayLink was still only 8-bit color.

2nd scenario:
- using the PCIex16 NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, with both outputs in portrait:
- DisplayLink in landscape: output runs correctly at 1280x1024 mode, but only in 8-bit color.
- DisplayLink in portrait: again, the DisplayLink output is 'compressed' to roughly two-thirds of the screen size, and with 8-bit color.

Debug Tool log attached.

Cheers,
ronkinoz.

Hi,

Please make sure you have the latest drivers from both Intel and nVidia, and the latest DisplayLink release. Most importantly though, we have not tested on a pre RTM build of Windows 7 for a long time and the rotation issue is something we certainly had back in February. The 8-bit colour problem is very interesting, and I suggest you check the device on another machine to check that the device is not faulty.

Best Regards,
Martin
