Default Issue with macOS 10.14.x and 5.0.1 driver

Hi all,

Not too long ago we purchased a bunch of HP USB-C G4 docks to connect to our MacBook Pro 15" TB 2017 models running macOS 10.14.2.
We've connected two identical monitors (HP EliteDisplay E240) to the docking station, a UTP kabel, USB Mouse and keyboard to the dock.

We've installed the Displaylink 5.0.1 driver, and all functionality works except one thing.
Both monitors turn on, but are ALWAYS mirrored and no option is available to set these to extended.

Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know a solution to this issue?

Kind regards,

Jaime

Looking at the product specifications, spec sheet manual and download page for the HP dock you mention (links below), it does not appear to be a DisplayLink-based product.

Everything taken together would imply that the dock has a DisplayPort MST hub within the unit to provide multiple displays.

macOS does not support DisplayPort MST hubs. When such a device is connected to a Mac system, the typical behavior is to see a mirror image on every display (as you describe). This is an operating system limitation.
