Default Do the drivers work on Ubuntu 18.04?

Hello,

I am thinking about switching from Windows to Ubuntu 18.04, but from some recent posts I have seen many struggling with the drivers.
What are your experiences, do the drivers (mostly) work or is switching to Ubuntu a bad idea? I need my docking station for work and therefore need it working properly.

Thank you in advance!

Default

If you arent using nvidia drivers you should be ok. It is pretty simple to install. I have an intel and nvidia chipset on my laptop. The nvidia drivers though taint the kernel and act very wonky with the DisplayLink chipsets (it is advertised to NOT work with nvidia drivers so that is definately confirmed), but what I do is if I want to play a game or something I just use bumblee to turn on the nvidia chipset and drivers, log out of X, unplug the DisplayLink adapter and play my game.

hope this helps

Default Drivers do work on Ubuntu 18.04 but it takes a little extra work...

I just got an external display working with my installation of Ubuntu 18.04, it required some extra steps that I wrote out in this thread.

Good luck!
