Default Cant Debug Chrome?

Howdy,
I just purchased an ASUS MB MB168B+ portable external USB 3 powered display. I noticed some extremely poor performance when doing simple things like running the chrome web inspector tools. ( It stops rendering the document, and shows through to my desktop background ) Seems to handle things like 1080p youtube streaming just fine...

I'm still on 10.8.5, so mavericks didn't bork these drivers. They just seem really poorly designed. Its a 2013 Macbook pro with USB 3 support.

Does anyone have some tips or hacks to improve performance? I love the form factor, but debugging my app was kind of my #1 goal for this little device.

I had problems with Chrome +DisplayLink in the past -- I ultimately switched to Safari. I think it has something to do with how Chrome offloads some rendering to the GPU -- which is not available over USB. Not sure if that's *really* the reason tho.
