Unhappy Targus Dock: Lagging Mouse on 4K LG Monitor

Hello there, and happy new year 2018

I always wanted to have a setup with a laptop and a home station, that way I could plugin my laptop for work at home and take it off to my job.

To make that dream come true, last Black Friday I bought all the following:

- XPS 15 (9560) - (i7-7700HQ , 16G ram DDR4, GTX 1050)
- Dock Targus 180 Usb-C
- LG 27UD88 4K Monitor
- BenQ Zowie Mouse

So, everything is plugged to the Dock ( Monitor, Mouse, Ethernet... ) and the Dock is connected to the XPS by USB-C cable.
The screen is connected to the Dock with a DisplayPort cable.
I installed the latest DisplayLink driver, as suggested in my Dock notice.

The first time I plugged my XPS to the Dock, magic happen, everything was great.

But after a few seconds, I figured out that something was wrong: the mouse is lagging !
This is really annoying, and I'm not talking about gaming or other complex operation. I'm talking about web surfing, or just chilling on the desktop! It seems responsive for some seconds, then it jerks 2-3 times. Also when I click it feels not responsive, or when I scroll etc.... Well, there is something wrong here.

I tried to plug the mouse directly on the laptop, I try another mouse ( Logitech ), I tried another laptop: same result.

I don't know what to try, I'm a little anxious about this situation because this setup sure costs a lot of money. I never thought I could have a ridiculous issue like this one.

I'm starting to think that the Dock doesn't drive the 4K monitor properly....

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we will need some details to understand your report.
Could you please explain what "chilling on the desktop" and "it jerks 2-3 times" mean? Maybe you have a video to illustrate the phenomenon.

DisplayLink technology has no control or visibility of clicks. I'm unable to explain a click delay.

That docking station got mouse hardware cursor enabled in our release 8.4 M0. That enables us not to rely on Windows to do the cursor blending but instead get the dock to do it. This increased the speed of the cursor significantly but a video of the phenomenon compared to mouse movement will give more information on the delay.

Regards,
Alban
