Default problem installing displaylink core software on Windows 8.1

I've been trying to install Displaylink 7.5 on my windows 8.1 Samsung PC. I don't have any earlier versions of the software on the computer. I keep getting the following error message:

could not write value MirrorDriver to key \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayLinkGA\D evice 1.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Please attach the output of this tool:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269

It may flag up that a device is not detected and if it does please ignore that.

When you reply please select "Manage Attachments" from the "Additional Options" section below.

From there select Upload and navigate to the output of the tool.

Thanks,
James

Hi,

Having the same issue installing the Displaylink Core Software 7.6 on a Asus Taichi 31 hybrid tablet running Windows 8 (Soon to be updated to Windows 8.1).

DisplayLink software installs and then core software doesn't install correctly (See attachment for error). The error is for all entries \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayLinkGA\D evice1 through to Device0

I have changed the permissions for the Registry, adding the Everyone group with full access permission to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry keys, this didn't make any difference. Even after completely removing software, restarting and installing again.

The device will function and detect the display, however needs to be turned on from the notification area every time the laptop is restarted.

I will note I was using an outlook.com account, so I enabled the local administrator account and tried the install again, same issue.

Any assistance or resolution for this would be appreciated.

Default same issue

I have a Kensington SD3500V. I am running windows 8.1 on a Dell Laptop. My computer prompted me to update my displayLink driver. Now my monitors are no longer displaying. I have fully unistalled both displayLink and kensington video driver. Now, I can't install any either drivers. I am getting the following error message

Could not write value MirrorDriver to key
\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DisplayLinkGA\D evice1.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key. or contact your support personnel.

I have ran the install as Administrator as well. I have contacted Kensington and they are pointing fingers to displayLink driver.

I am also attaching the support file that was generated by the DisplayLink Support Tool.

Please help

Hi all,

This looks to be a permissions issue - can you try suspending any Anti Virus software then attempt to install again?

Thanks,
James
