Crash when opening file browser Ubuntu 17.10, 1.4.21

After upgrading to 17.10 everything seemed to be working OK with passing one monitor through a displaylink adapter. However recently there is a repeatable crash that occurs when the displaylink adapter is connected - simply opening the file browser crashes the system. Disconnecting the adapter does not rescue the system, and everything is unresponsive. Connecting and disconnecting the second monitor does not cause the issue to occur.

Please let me know if theres anything misconfigured?

Went ahead and reinstalled 17.10 fresh. Everything is working fine (better than before, speed-wise)
