Default Mouse Cursor Lag issues on Ubuntu 16.04

I have installed the Display link drivers on my Dell precision 7510 laptop running Ubuntu 16.04. I have also 3 monitors attached to my Dell USB 3.0 docking station.

Everything works fine and the external monitors are detected correctly, except that I am experiencing mouse cursor lags, which makes the user experience quite unpleasant.

Is there something specific I can do about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could you record a short video to demonstrate the lag? If you posted logs captured by our support tool we could also learn more about your setup.

Cheers,
Michal

I have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 5567 running on latest BIOS with this device:
Code:
[ 2.089910] usb 2-1.1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd
[ 2.110672] usb 2-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=17e9, idProduct=430a
[ 2.110673] usb 2-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 2.110674] usb 2-1.1: Product: HP 3005pr USB3.0 Port Replicator
[ 2.110674] usb 2-1.1: Manufacturer: DisplayLink
[ 2.110675] usb 2-1.1: SerialNumber: 0036614
Also, I'm running latest (x)Ubuntu 16.04:
Quote:
Linux my-hostname 4.10.0-42-generic #46~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 4 15:57:59 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I've installed the latest DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu 1.4, last updated in October 2017.

The problem appears on both intel and modesetting drivers. Switching driver does not seem to affect how the cursor lags. Actually, it seems to move okay for 1-2 seconds sometimes, but most of the time it lags making the user-experience very bad. No other visible problems, HD video from youtube seems to be okay.

Worth noting that CPU usage of DisplayLinkManager is about 70% all the time, Xorg uses about 25% of CPU.

Also if the DisplayLink port replicator if connected during boot then Xorg would crash every time during the system boot. OS would restart Xorg after it crashes and Xorg works (does not crash) with the DisplayLink port replicator after the first crash. Not sure if it's relevant or correlate with the cursor lag issue.

Also, it seems that cursor lag appeared after I both updated Ubuntu (apt update && apt upgrade) and updated the DisplayLink software.

Attaching the Support Tool generated ZIP...
my-hostname_2017-12-19T17:00:46.764397.zip

Also, the xrandr output (it's empty in ZIP for some reason)
xrandr.txt

glxgears reports 60 FPS on the built-in monitor, and 1800-2500 FPS on the DL-connected monitors!! However, it actually lags on the DL-connected monitors, does not look smooth at all
