Default DL-6950 not supporting 60Hz display modes

I'm having an issue with a USB-C docking station with a DL-6950 chipset. My understanding is the 2 HDMI ports would support 60Hz refresh modes for 4k:

https://www.wavlink.com/en_us/product/UG69DK1.html

Specifically I'd like a 3840x2160 resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate, and the display supports it fine through the laptops HDMI output, but the highest modes listed for the dock are:

3840 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 24 Hertz
3840 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 25 Hertz
3840 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 30 Hertz
4096 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 24 Hertz
4096 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 25 Hertz
4096 by 2160, True Color (32bit), 30 Hertz

I'm on Win10 Pro v.1803. I've tried DisplayLink driver version 8.2.1952.0 (5/22/2017), an 8.4 version (dated Nov I think), and the latest 8.5.3459.0 (5/11/2018).

Here are the device IDs:

I see you also just released a new version the Device Manager shows as version 8.5.3594.0 that is dated 6/25/2018. Still seeing the same issue.

I leave this here in the hopes it might help someone else in the future...

I managed to fix it myself for the display I was using. I had to make sure the input source on the display was actually called "PC" and the make sure the the "HDMI UHD Color" menu option was enabled.

Not sure why the builtin laptop graphics HDMI output didn't have these issues, nor why a 2nd borrowed display from a different manufacturer also showed the same problem. If there was something that could have been done in the display driver to just respect the reported EDID timings (which I assume the builtin graphics did) then this might have just worked.

Hello,

Whilst on holidays, I have followed a similar bug report on an LG 40UB800V television via ticket.

In that case, the EDID was different in each mode of the television.
Resolution of 4Kp60 was not in the EDID of the PC mode, only on the HDMI-DTV mode.
The limited colour space in that mode was also not supported.

Your description fits the conclusion and description from LG website.

Kind regards,
Alban

Hello,

Even 8.5 is old I'm afraid.
I advise you check with latest driver.
If that doesn't work, we will look with the logs if you provide them.
It could be because 4Kp60 is not on the list the monitor tells us. That product is designed to allow dual 4Kp60.

Regards,
Alban
