Default 2.1 Driver fails and requests update

Hi,

We're using Targus docks with about 50 MacBook Airs running OS X 10.9.2. They were running Mavericks out of the box, we haven't upgraded to it. They were mostly running fine this year with the 2.1 driver until today when we received the attached message on them, asking us to upgrade.

I don't mind being asked to update to the next driver (although this does seem a bit premature if the next one is still in beta) however the currently installed 2.1 driver now refuses to function until it has been uninstalled and the new 2.2 beta driver has been put on. A bit of a problem to have 50 all fail all at once!

Has anyone else experienced this today?

Hi Tim, could you please use the DisplayLink debug tool http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269, collect the logs from one the machine reporting the error message and upload them here? It looks like the firmware of the docks has been updated for some reason, but the logs would help clarify this.
Have you connected the docks to Window machines recently?

Hi Christian,

Here's the logs - hopefully I collected them correctly!

We did upgrade the firmware in the docks last week at Targus' direction. The upgrade was meant to help with reliability when computers are disconnected and reconnected to the docks.

Hi Tim,

Do you have a download link where we can find the FW upgrade from Targus?

A simple FW upgrade would not cause this sort of issue with 2.1, unless we find more information I cannot offer alternatives to an upgrade to 2.2 Beta.
I'd suggest to try it on a few systems first but I'm not aware of issues with one screen on Mavericks.

Sorry Carlo, Targus have not yet officially released the firmware and have asked me not to share the link. I understand this makes it difficult for you to go any further!

So far the upgrade to 2.2 beta has not introduced any further problems for us so we'll see how that goes. Thanks very much for your help.
