Default Cannot Uninstall DisplayLink Core Software

I am unable to upgrade to 5.2, as a result of being unable to install the old version, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7.

Why? Because I manually deleted a number of the files associated with the software. Why? Because I was foolish.

So anyway, I am now unable to uninstall using Add/Remove programs on control panel (It simply fails to uninstall) and I am unable to upgrade (because it fails when first trying to uninstall the old version).

I am unable to manually remove the remaining old files (some are system files, and they say it requires admin permission. Yet *I* am the admin and the only user on this system lol).

So ... what to do what to do. HELP! Save me from myself!

Hello,

If you have an installation which is damaged, you can attempt to remove it completely using DisplayLink Install Cleaner - can you try that?

Then, please try to install the latest released version of DisplayLink Software.
Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Michal
