Default 2 HDMI Monitors, Headphones

Hello, first time posting here. I'm using MacOS 10.12.x

* Have 2 monitors connected via HDMI
* Plugged in headphones to the rear audio 3.5 mm input

On my Mac, I can switch between the Internal Speakers and the Dell USB Audio, but when I selected Dell USB Audio, the audio is coming BOTH out of the speakers of the monitors AND the headphones. I'm in an office setting, so I don't want the sound coming out of the speakers, just the headphones. There seems to be no way to tell it to mute the HDMI speakers and just use the headphones for audio output?

Any advice is appreciated.

UPDATE: Turns out the plug for my headphones is somehow "bad" or it doesn't work with the DisplayLink. Used a co-workers headphones and they were able to seat properly and work as expected. The headphones I have are designed to work with a 1/4" adapter and they only have 2 "bands" on the plug. We used one with 3 bands and it worked fine. Trying to delete this posting.
