Unhappy No HD audio with USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter

Hello,

I have a DisplayLink "SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI adapter in black" and I want to play a blu-ray disc with DTS HD Master Audio sound from a PC on an AV receiver.

I have bought this adapter because it is possible to do audio passthrough.

I have tried to play a blu-ray with DTS HD Master Audio sound with Kodi and Media Player Classic. With both my AV receiver does not indicate that it plays some HD audio.

It works fine with a Sony blu-ray player and with another PC with a HDMI port so the problem is not my AV receiver.

Thank you per advance for your help.

Hello and welcome,

Thank you for the details.
Before we look into details about the logs, could you confirm you have changed the default playback device in Windows?

Your use case is far from being unique and is rather standard.

Kind regards,
Alban

Thank you for confirming,

Would you please let me know if you see the VU-meter (green bar graph) going up and down with the sound in the Windows Audio Settings dialogue?
I'd like to know if Windows thinks sound is playing on that device or not.

Also, would you please be able to look at the last link in my forum signature to use our Customer Support Tool to create the ZIP of the logs? You can upload it here instead of emailing it as only DisplayLink employees can download these forum attachments.
This will help me identify which hardware you have and how it's supposed to handle audio.

DisplayLink is a semiconductor company, we don't manufacture any product, that's why I need the logs to point me to how this particular product was made and is supposed to work.
Logs will also tell me which audio driver is in use.

Kind regards,
Alban

Hi

I've taken a look at the logs and it looks like the adapter is connected to a Denon amp. The firmware trace tells me that it sees the Denon amp as an 8 channel audio source and has started outputting the audio to the amp, so it looks like the adapter is working as it should and sending audio to the amp.

I don't know why you are not hearing the output, but it looks like the adapter is working as expected.
