DisplayLink software causes Windows 8.1 with Radeon video card to reset
I have a Targus USB 3.0 port replicator. It was working great on my laptop or my desktop until I upgraded DisplayLink to 7.4_m2 (on both computers.) After the upgrade the laptop continues to work great. But, the desktop will black screen/reset when I view a video in the browser (other things also seem to cause windows to reset (both windows 8 and windows 8.1.) As soon as I uninstall the displaylink software, the crashing stops, and I can view videos in the browser. So, I cannot use the port replicator with my desktop until this issue is addressed by a newer version of the displaylink software.
Questions: 1. Can you think of a work around, video card setting for my Radeon HD 7700 Series so I can use my port replicator with the current driver? 2. When will a version of displaylink be made available that will address this issue? Thanks, Ken |

Hi,
This sounds familiar. What video are you trying to watch and in which browser? We found an issue with WMP / Metro video causing what you described - the workaround was to disable "Turn on DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV files" in Windows Media Player." The issue I describe is fixed in the next release - let me have details of the setup you have so I can confirm that your issue is fixed as well. http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Thanks, James |

DisplayLink software causes Windows 8.1 with Radeon video card to reset
It was any video in any browser I tried, or video player app. Silverlight videos, every video on Youtube, the windows 8 video player, the mplayer2.exe.
The hardware is a desktop tower with a Radeon HD 7700 Series video card and a Targus 3.0 USB dual video docking station. When will that new version be available so I can try it? Thanks. Ken |
