Default Changing DUO(DUEX) USB Monitor Resolution

Hello,

Is there any possibilities to change the DUO/DUEX USB monitor resolution to other settings ? The default is in FHD (1920x1080) mode and I want to reduce it into HD (1366x768) since my main laptop display still in HD. I tried to use the windows scaling system, but not satisfied with it (win 8.1).

If it's not possible, is it because the hardware or because the driver not yet ready to implement different resolution ?

Thank you for your time, looking forward to hearing your reply.

Hello,

The list of resolutions (or more exactly modes/timings) depends on the panel and what the manufacturer has programmed in the product. DisplayLink driver receives the timing from the product, and selects the preferred resolution advertised.

Using 1366 on a 1920 would look dreadful though because pixels are either ON or OFF. Because they are identical, double or half of each other, it means you would get fuzzy text, or broken lines: see details in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_resolution
That would alone be a reason for the manufacturer not to wish to advertise modes which would create negative feedback on their product.

If you send me the .EDID file in the DisplayLink software folder, I can parse it and indicate which modes the monitor advertise supporting.

Kind regards,
Alban

I can confirm the EDID only includes 1080p.

Kind regards,

Hello,
It means the display doesn't offer it, so the driver works properly.
I don't have access to the design details so cannot say if it will be technically possible on future models. This is not changeable in the field, once the device has left the factory.
Kind regards,
Alban
