Default Black screens

Materials used:

UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 USB C Docking Station

MacBook Pro, Apple M3 running macOS 15.6.1
MacBook Pro, Apple M2 Max running macOS 15.6.1
HP EliteBook 845 14 inch G11 Notebook PC running Windows 11 24H2

Lenovo D27-30 Monitor
Dell SE2717H Monitor

HDMI cable
HDMI cable (4k)

----------------------------------
----------------------------------

Everything had been working fine for ~1 month then all of the sudden both Dell monitors went black on the MacBook Pro, Apple M3 right in the middle of work. The DisplayLink Manager no longer recognized either monitor, but the laptop was still charging through the dock.

I think it might be an issue with the dock manufacturer but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to find some display link/dock logging?

Troubleshoooting steps:

-Both MAC laptops worked with a different Revodok Pro 209 docking station.
-Neither MAC worked with the faulty Revodok Pro 209 docking station, and the Windows 11 didn't work either
-Changed out different monitor brands
-Changed out HDMI for an HDMI 4K
-(the monitors only support HDMI, not DP)
-Unplugged and re-plugged all cables, power cycling, from monitors, dock, laptops and every various combination etc.
-Un-installed and re-installed the latest DisplayLink manager software (v13.1)
-Un-installed and installed v13.0
-Un-installed and installed v1.12.4
-Un-installed and installed v1.11

Hi RBcowboys,

It sounds like a HW fault.
Could you please execute the following tests:
1. Connect a USB flash drive to the faulty dock. Will it appear on the system?
2. Connect Ethernet cable and disable Mac Wifi to verify if network function still operates on the device.

Regards,
Szymon

I had the same issue with that UGREEN Model.

I've tried the USB, and my Mac does not recognize it. What should I do?

Default No Monitor after sleep (50%)

Hi
I've connected with tech support in the past after upgrading the os and displaylink failing to "wake" the monitor after the computer comes out of sleep.

It seems to bit a hit and miss situation for me...sometimes the monitor wakes up..sometimes it doesn't.

I have the new driver and have power cycled everything.

What works is unplugging the hdmi cable and plugging it back in...

Setup
Mini M2 Pro
Sequoia 15.6.1

Samsung monitor plugged into mini directly
Apple LED 24" Cinema display mini diplayport to hdmi into displaylink

thanks

Smile Mac OS Tahoe black screens fixed by DisplayLink 14

I wanted to say thanks to the devs/admins as much as anything.

After upgrading to Tahoe 26.0.1 recently, my two external screens attached to a MacBook Air with M2 chip would randomly click and turn black. I tried swapping cables, switching USB-C ports, and using only one external monitor attached to the 4K adapter. With just one monitor, the frequency of blackouts diminished, but it was still happening, sometimes just seconds apart.

I figured the adapter must be dying after purchasing it in May 2024 (and it working perfectly for 18 months). However, since installing DisplayLink 14.0 a few hours ago, there have been no further drop outs.

When I returned to my Amazon purchase, I noticed the description had changed, and it now says it is no longer recommended for Macs M1 or M2. It DEFINITELY didn't say that when I bought it because I bought it for that express reason. No matter. It looks like I don't need to purchase a new adapter after all because DisplayLink 14.0 seems to have worked like magic.

Much appreciated!

Hi Special K,
Thanks a lot for sharing this, and we're really glad to hear the latest release resolved the issue!

I use Apple LED 27" Cinema display at home with a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter to DisplayLink which delivers a rock solid connection. In my overall experience I tested plenty of different adapters and they can really differ in quality. Therefore in your case this should be the first suspect to investigate I believe.

Szymon
