Hello everyone,

I am facing issues with my Dell D6000S dock when trying to use a 4K monitor over DisplayPort. The problem occurs both on my MacBook Pro 13" (A2251, Intel, 2020) and my work laptop HP EliteBook 845 G8 (Windows 11, AMD Ryzen).

Setup
Dock: Dell D6000S (latest firmware installed)
Host 1 (personal): MacBook Pro A2251 (Intel, 2020, macOS [insert version])
Host 2 (work): HP EliteBook 845 G8 (Windows 11, AMD Ryzen)
DisplayLink Manager (macOS): latest version installed, allowed in System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Screen Recording

Monitors:
1× 4K monitor (with HDMI & DisplayPort input)
1× 1080p monitor (HDMI only)

The problem:
If I connect the 4K monitor via DisplayPort (either DP1 or DP2) → the screen stays black.
It briefly appears in the OS (macOS/Windows) and in DisplayLink Manager, but disappears again.
If I connect the 4K monitor via HDMI, it works fine.
The 1080p monitor via HDMI also works fine.

When trying HDMI (1080p) + DP2 (4K) together:
Only the HDMI screen works → the 4K screen remains black.
Important: This happens both on macOS and on Windows (HP EliteBook).

What I have tried:
Updated Dell D6000S firmware.
Installed the latest DisplayLink Manager on macOS.
On Windows: installed the latest DisplayLink drivers.
Verified permissions (macOS: Screen Recording enabled).
Tested both DP ports, HDMI, and mixed combinations.
Swapped cables (HDMI, DP).
Tried forcing custom resolutions (3840×2160 @ 60 Hz) using BetterDisplay on macOS.
The 4K monitor works fine over HDMI, but not over DisplayPort from the dock.

My current goal is simple:
When I connect my MacBook Pro via USB-C, I want both monitors (4K + 1080p) to be detected as separate extended displays (not mirrored).
When I connect my work HP EliteBook, the exact same thing should happen: both monitors detected and working as separate extended displays.
In other words: one cable in, two extended monitors active – no matter if it’s my MacBook or my HP laptop.

Has anyone else experienced this with D6000S + 4K over DisplayPort (on either macOS or Windows)?
Is there a known fix or workaround ?
Could this be a limitation or defect of the D6000S?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Albert,

Thanks for all the details. Could you please answer the following questions?
1. What is the brand and model of the 4K screen?
2. If you uninstall current DisplayLink Manager app and install version 1.11 from here:
https://www.synaptics.com/products/d...1?filetype=exe
will the problem go away?
