Default Unable to connect the Apple Thunderbolt Display and HDMI display simultaneously

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro (2022) with the M2 chip running macOS 15.6.1 (24G90). I am using DisplayLink version 14 along with two external displays:

1- Apple Thunderbolt Display

2- Dell display via HDMI

I also use a Satechi USB-C connection hub.

When I connect the Thunderbolt Display directly to the Mac using an Apple USB-C adapter, it works fine as a single external display. However, when I connect the Dell display through the HDMI port on the Satechi hub, it is not detected by DisplayLink.

If I disconnect the Thunderbolt Display, the Dell monitor is detected. But once I reconnect the Thunderbolt Display, it fails to detect it again. It appears that the system only supports one external monitor at a time.

Could you please advise on how I might resolve this issue?

Regards

Shark

1. Can you please provide the specific model number of (or a direct web link to) the Satechi product you are using?

2. You mention an 'Apple USB-C adapter'. My impression is that you are using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter --> https://www.apple.com/shop/product/M...bolt-2-adapter

Can you confirm this is correct?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

Here is the link to the adaptor: https://satechi.net/products/type-c-...nt=45020091081

And about the thunderbolt, the product you mentioned is correct, this is what I use.

Many thanks

In addition, the Dell display is connected to the Satechi hub via a direct HDMI-to-HDMI cable.

For your reference, DisplayLink technology is a combination of hardware and software. If the product you are using does not have DisplayLink hardware inside of it, then the DisplayLink software will not work.

According to the information provided by Satechi, the device you are using does NOT have DisplayLink hardware inside of it. As a result, the DisplayLink software will not help you.

Further to this, the USB-C port within the Satechi device is for connecting an external USB-C charger in order to charge the host computer. The Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter you are using will NOT work with this device.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no devices based on DisplayLink technology that are also compatible with the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter you are using.
