Default Mac software releases update

Hi All

First of all, let me apologise for the silence from us over the past few months on Mac releases. We have been investigating the bugs you have been raising and trying to address them, however we believe that several of them are in the Mountain Lion OS. To get these addressed we have raised them with Apple.

The issues we are aware of are:
  • Issues with the Login screen not appearing (see 1.8.1 below)
  • Flickering in Safari and Firefox - Believed to be an OS issue and raised as Apple bug #12275102
  • Finder/Skype crashing - Believed to be an OS issue. Possibly fixed in 10.8.2 OS update.

If there are other issues that are not noted above, please let us know in separate threads.

We are working on a v1.8.1 release, but want to make sure we address as many frustrating issues as possible in this release. We currently believe we have a fix to the login screen issues experienced, and this is going through final test with 10.8.2 before release. This should be available in the next month or so.

DisplayLink are committed to supporting Mac and we are currently running a project to rewrite our Mac driver. This will give a completely new architecture that will support our USB 3.0 devices and a platform that should significantly increase the performance and stability of all our USB devices on the Mac in the future.

As you can imagine, this is a large project. We hope to deliver this in Q1 2013 or earlier if we can as we know how keen you are for this update and to be able to use USB 3.0 devices on Mac.
