Default Displaylink driver 8.0 M.0 Mouse & Keyboard Lag

My mouse & keyboard lag heavily after I install Displaylink driver 8.0, same thing happened with previous 8.0 beta driver.

Reverting the driver to 7.9 solve the issue but windows update automatically updating the driver to 8.0

Using Dell USB 3.0 dock D3000, dell XPS 12 9Q33

Monitor connected using DVI port

Hello,
We have not observed noticeable lag during normal office use of the new driver.
However, we have tasks pending to improve the performance (we use automated software to detect actual frame rate, not humans).
It might be useful if you could describe what the computer is doing and if there is anything abnormal as it may be something else going wrong with the driver.

As you get 8.0 from Windows Update, you must be in the Windows Insiders program (WIP) and use the new Windows 10.
There are fundamental changes coming in the new Windows 10. One of these change allows native DisplayLink USB graphics support in the OS.
The other one is an upgrade of the graphics drivers expected mid-August making them incompatible with 7.9. Should you run 7.9 when these changes arrive, you will be hit with at best a rain of blue screens and at worse an unusable computer. That's why Microsoft put 8.0 as critical on the WIP. All 7.9 versions will be unavailable for Windows 10 builds above 10586.

Kind regards,
Alban

Is the mid august drivers for graphics coming from your company or from Intel/AMD/Nvidia? Wasn't sure. And do you recommend to go to the new windows 10 anniversary update as soon as it comes out? I am currently running the insider preview.

The change of graphics version is coming from Intel/AMD/Nvidia.
We will have a new driver as well, to fix a few things. I expect to put the 8.0 M1 driver on our website the week starting the 8th August.

If you use the Fast Ring Insiders, you will be using something almost identical to the Anniversary Update already. For the graphics point of view, I would not expect differences between the release version and the build 14393 you are likely to be using now.

Exclamation mouse & keyboard not really lag, it is non-responsive

have to reword, it is not lag.
Mouse & keyboard is often non-responsive. I will have to click the keyboard to make mouse move again.

Seems the USB display is interfering with USB interface for other device, even if I connect mouse direct to my laptop USB, the non-responsive mouse is recurring if i use USB display.

Hello,

The OS doesn't allow drivers to talk to each other or intercept the traffic from other USB devices not even connected to it.
Trying to access another process's memory would crash the driver.

If the issue is only with the mouse, and only in Replace mode, we have fed this back to Microsoft as this is an OS issue. Are you in Extend?
I suggest you also report to them as feedback from customers is always more powerful than from partners.

Kind regards,
Alban

Default lagging issues after resume from standby

There are definitely problems concerning the new DisplayLink driver. After resuming from standby I sometimes encounter severe lagging in Win 10 1607.
I can't see any special when looking at task manager stats - neither cpu cycles, nor E/A show anything suspicious. The whole system is nearly unresponsive, typing and clicking, switching programs - everything.
As soon as I unplug my USB monitors, everything is immediately back to normal. Re-plugging is fine.

Stepinsky, what DisplayLink driver version do you use?
I'm sorry but you don't really give me much to work on...

I think you should try to update to 8.0 M1 (8.0.629.0), I've posted on the website today.
Your issue rings a bell: it all becomes sluggish after resume from sleep because of some timeout issues.

Default integrated drivers or separate install?

Sorry for the late reply. I had some issues posting to this forum.

When upgrading to 1607 my M8 driver was removed. Then I read this response:
Quote:
The DisplayLink Manager Service is not compatible with Build 1607 (anniversary). So make sure you don't use DisplayLink Provided drivers until they can fix it.

I would try using the removal tool to remove all display link. Then go into device manage and have it find the driver for the display link pieces.

When I upgraded to Anniversary windows 10 automatically removed my display link 8 driver and service. I just had Windows update the driver in device manager and then no issues after that.
On my machine (Lenovo W530) Windows automatically installed a new driver. Because you mentioned the driver is now OS integrated, I didn't care about the driver version in my post above. Actually it was version 8.0.478.0. Yesterday I tried 8.0M1. I will post my experiences with this driver.

That response is not from DisplayLink and is factually wrong as I commented on the thread.
It has nothing to do with compatibility. Nothing is broken. DLM is removed on purpose because it is superfluous!

If your issue persist on 8.0 M1, you can attach your logs so we can look at them and the mode (replace, extend...) you use. My forum signature states how.
