HP3005PR on Windows 7
Hello lads and lasses,
I'm trying to setup an hp3005pr on my laptop. The laptop is running Windows 7. I've tried a lot of things but I can't seem to get it to work. The USB hub works fine, but I can't get anything on the HDMI screen I have connected to the dock. It seems like the GigEthernet doesn't work either. I've tried:
The dock shows up in device manager in Portable Devices but not in display adapters. As a result DisplayLink manager shows a disconnected icon. I ran Windows updates and my system is up-to-date. The intel HD graphics and USB 3.0 host controller drivers are also up-to-date. Attached you'll find the support logs for each of the ports I tested. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the feedback. I've looked at the logs, and these show that no DisplayLink device is being found on the USB bus (see Syetem Details.txt at the bottom of the file). You can check this yourself in device manager using the article below: http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...-at-all-or-i-g Wim |

Thanks for the response Wim.
What do you think causes that? The dock is detected on the laptop because it's shown in dev manager as portable device. I found more details in one of the files in the zip I attached in my first post too (DevManView.html): So the dock is being detected but it's not recognized as a displaylink device? |

Hello Schampi,
You indeed see a mass storage device but no graphics adapter, no Ethernet adapter and no audio driver. HP would have designed their docking station using one of the USB port to embed a USB storage key. It could be the USB 3.0 subsystem which is dead, it could be the cables, it could be the port, it could be an issue with the power supply, a damaged pin... This requires the hardware to get a real root cause. At this stage, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer, HP, for hardware support. There's no DisplayLink chip detected connected to the computer, so Windows doesn't invoke DisplayLink driver. The problem occurs before the driver. Kind regards, and I wish you a prosperous year! Thanks for the response. The HP warranty has run out unfortunately. I'll see if I can find another USB 3 cable. But I guess it has passed on to electronics heaven. Probably not much servicing to do on things like this but at the same time I'm a bit surprised that it died only partially. Kind regards, Brecht. |
