Very high CPU usage 10.9.1 with 2.1

I have an eVga UV39 which is the USB 3 model using a DisplayLink chip. The new 2.1 drivers while they indeed work in Mavericks, the DisplayLinkUserAgent is consuming between 19 & 22% CPU at all times. My MacBook Pro therefore hovers around 95C because the processor is constantly engaged.

I really should have expected this to work poorly since it has never in any OS or configuration worked well in the year I've owned it, but is there any fix or way to limit CPU usage? Are there firmware updates for this thing?
