Default Hmmm DisplayLink not working

Hi, I upgraded to a new System76 laptop. My DisplayLink worked with the old laptop, but not with the new one. (See attached support info)

Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 see's the device, arranges the displays in the "Displays" settings, shows the mouse cursor on the monitor, and windows drag on/off, but the display always shows black.

What to do?

Tried turning of UEFI in bios but didn't boot.
Tried drivers "intel" and login manager crashed to a command line login
Tried page flipping and no longer detected in arrange displays.

Hi MichaelC,

It is likely you've came across problems which are present in the recent X window system. Could you please try this FAQ article?
