Question Is it possible to get Netflix working on a TV attached to a Mac?

I recently purchased a DisplayLink HDMI to USB 3 adapter so that my daughter could plug her MacBook Air into a 38" television (that is not hooked up to a cable box or has any internet connection) and play Netflix movies on it while at university. While I have got the driver to work and can see the Mac desktop on the TV, when I try to start a Netflix movie on the laptop I get an HDCP error. I have heard this is Apple blocking this to protect copyrighted content but really all we want to do is stream movies we have paid to watch via Netflix to a larger screen. We are running OSX 10.13.6 and installed the 4.3 beta 5 as suggested.

I looked in the forums and via Google and was not able to find a solution or workaround for this. Is there one?

If not, I will probably return the adapter for a refund.

Please advise...
