Unhappy Latest update interferes with nVidia renderer

Today I rebooted my computer, and the DisplayLink software updated itself. When I went to play Skyrim, I got the error message "Failed to initialize renderer Unknown error. I could get this fatal error to go away by uninstalling all the DisplayLink software, and I confirmed that I could get the error back again by reinstalling the Display Link drivers.

I did not have any trouble with any of the previous versions of the drivers, and I would like to go back to the last one if I could stop it from updating to the latest version when it reboots to finish the install.

Until I get a way around this I am uninstalling the software, and disconnecting my Lenovo USB monitor. Anyone have any suggestions?

Video card is a GT555M with the latest drivers.

hi,

unfortunatelly, I can only confirm, latest DisplayLink results in an error:
failed to initialize renderer unknown error creating the renderer
I use windows 8 64-bit

after a bit of fiddling, if you run it in compatibility mode as windows7, then it tries to go fullscreen, but windows borders remain all around the area,
see here - http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=344
I start skyrim with skse_loader.exe, if that makes any difference,
I've tried many versions, v6.3M1 doesn't seem to have a problem, but it's useless for me, I need 7 for my usb docking station (all 7.x versions are blocking nvidia renderer)

edit: problem is only when you run the game fullscreen - which is usually desired

Thumbs down

See this thread,

This is a common problem with the Displaylink drivers. Problems that haven't been fixed in over a year now.
